Changzhou University launched its 2026 International Summer School on June 9, welcoming a delegation of 13 faculty members and students from Western Carolina University in the United States for a two-week academic and cultural exchange.

Centered on the theme "Green Transformation and Development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt", the program combines academic lectures, company visits and cultural excursions to provide participants with firsthand insights into China's sustainable development efforts.

Li Zhongyu, vice-president of Changzhou University, said Changzhou, an important city in the Yangtze River Delta and a rising hub for the new energy industry, offers an ideal setting for exploring green transformation in practice.

He noted that this marks the second visit by faculty and students from Western Carolina University and expressed hope the summer school would serve as a new starting point for expanding cooperation.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting delegation, Professor Gary Curnutt of Western Carolina University said the group was eager to learn more about China's advances in green technology, urban planning and traditional culture. He added that the two-week program would broaden participants' academic perspectives and deepen their understanding of sustainable development.
