International students attending Hohai University's "Discover Jiangsu" International Summer School explored China's rich tea culture in Nanjing on June 24.
The students sampled Yuhua tea, a signature green tea from Nanjing, renowned for its emerald color and delicate aroma. They also enjoyed a traditional tea ceremony presented by Jiang Ronggen from a purple clay research institute in Yixing, who demonstrated the art of brewing and serving tea with handcrafted Yixing clay teapots.

The students also gained hands-on knowledge about the production process of Yuhua tea, whose traditional craftsmanship builds on classic green tea-making techniques while requiring greater precision. The most distinctive step is shaping the tea leaves into slender, pine needle-like strands, a process that relies on years of experience and skilled handwork.
The event offered participants an immersive introduction to one of Jiangsu's best-known tea traditions, combining hands-on learning with insights into the craftsmanship and cultural heritage behind Chinese tea.
