Southeast University in Nanjing, Jiangsu, and Sweden's KTH Royal Institute of Technology launched their 2026 International Summer School on June 24, bringing together more than 40 faculty members and students for a two-week program focused on aqua-resilient rural development.

Qianjiadu village in Nanjing has been selected as the program's field study site. Drawing on the village's traditional polder water system, historic settlements, and tourism resources, participants will engage in field surveys, water conservancy inspections, academic forums, design workshops, and project presentations.

The summer school brings together expertise from multiple disciplines, including urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, water resources engineering and environmental studies, with faculty from both universities providing joint supervision throughout the program.

The final design proposals will be presented during the closing ceremony on July 4 and 5 in Qianjiadu village. Outstanding projects are expected to provide practical ideas for improving the village's water environment and revitalizing its waterfront public spaces.
