As Chinese companies continue to expand their presence in overseas infrastructure projects, a growing number of international graduates from Chinese universities are taking their first career steps with these global enterprises, bringing the skills they acquired in China to projects around the world.
One of them is a 2026 master's graduate in civil engineering from Hohai University in Morocco. Drawn by China's remarkable achievements in infrastructure development and engineering, the student chose to pursue graduate studies in China.
After graduation, the graduate will return to Morocco to join a local project undertaken by China Communications Third Harbor Engineering.
Before arriving in China, the student had already learned about several Chinese-built projects in Morocco, including Tanger Tech City.
Another international graduate has already begun that journey. Originally from Yemen, the graduate now works for the Middle East branch of China Harbor Engineering Company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Two years after graduating, the young engineer is responsible for coordinating daily construction work.
The Yemeni engineer first came to China as an exchange student to study Chinese before enrolling at Hohai University to pursue a degree in port, coastal and offshore engineering. Hands-on training and advanced laboratory facilities strengthened the decision to pursue a career in marine engineering.
During university, the student interned at several construction sites operated by Chinese companies and was impressed by their rigorous engineering standards and well-organized project management.
