Starting this autumn, every primary and secondary school in Jiangsu will offer artificial intelligence classes, as the province steps up efforts to prepare students for an increasingly AI-driven world.

The initiative focuses on three key areas: building a stronger teaching workforce, expanding access to high-quality learning resources, and ensuring that students in rural and less-developed areas are not left behind.

Teacher training has been a major priority. Throughout the summer, Jiangsu's Education Information and Data Center organized livestreamed training sessions, covering topics such as AI education policies, foundational knowledge and classroom strategies. The 16-session program has now been completed, attracting a cumulative 9.03 million views.

The province has also expanded its digital curriculum resources. A new AI education section recently went online, offering free access to schools across Jiangsu. It brings together more than 130 resources covering topics such as AI awareness, classroom instruction and AI ethics.

In addition, Jiangsu has partnered with universities and companies, including Jiangnan University and iFlytek, to provide nearly 800 hours of structured AI courses.

Rural schools are a particular focus of the initiative. Schools can receive targeted on-site training based on the resources they choose to use, while remote and under-resourced schools that face difficulties offering AI classes independently can access online courses.
