Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine has continued to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with universities, research institutions and other organizations in Egypt, making progress in talent development, scientific research and cultural exchange.

In April 2025, NUCM and Benha National University reached an agreement to establish the Nanjing-Benha School of Medicine and Chinese Medicine in Egypt. Starting with the training of professionals in Chinese medicine, the partnership will gradually expand into faculty training and clinical research.

Around the same time, NUCM and the Egyptian Chinese University agreed to establish a Chinese Medicine Confucius Institute in Egypt. The initiative aims to integrate Chinese medicine education with the promotion of Chinese culture.

In November 2025, NUCM hosted a seminar in Cairo on China-Egypt cooperation in Chinese medicine. Representatives from Egyptian universities, the Egyptian Association of Chinese Medicine, the Egypt-China Friendship Association and other organizations gathered to discuss reforms in traditional medicine education, collaborative research and innovation, and exchanges between faculty and students.

In April 2026, an NUCM delegation returned to Benha National University, where the two sides unveiled the Acupuncture Teaching and Training Center at Benha National University.

NUCM and its affiliated hospitals have also joined forces with Menoufia University to apply for a joint research project focusing on the application and promotion of appropriate non-pharmacological traditional Chinese medicine therapies. The project will target conditions including insomnia, pain and emotional disorders, with plans to develop localized acupuncture protocols, establish a multilingual digital training platform and conduct pilot programs.

Meanwhile, NUCM and Mansoura University have jointly applied for a project on international standards for traditional medicines. The research will cover the identification of the origins of traditional medicines, screening of quality markers, quality evaluation, mutual recognition of standards, talent training and industry collaboration.
