The 2026 Asia-Pacific Summit of the International Microphysiological Systems Society (iMPSS) and the 9th Academic Conference on Organoids and Organs-on-Chips opened in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, on Sept 22.
Hosted by Southeast University (SEU), this landmark event marks the first time the iMPSS meetings have been held outside Europe and North America, drawing over 300 experts from more than 100 leading international institutions. Attendees include representatives from top universities, research institutions, and key industry players from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and other countries.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Sun Youhong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Southeast University, highlighted the university's commitment to interdisciplinary innovation, emphasizing the importance of global consensus, international collaboration, and the development of microphysiological systems to benefit human health.
The event also saw the launch of the Southeast University Organ-on-Chip Technology Transfer Platform, a national hub for the industrial transformation of organ-on-chip technology, integrating research and development, public technical services, industry-academia-medical collaboration, industrial incubation, talent cultivation, and international academic exchanges in the cutting-edge field. This platform, featuring high-standard laboratories and advanced AI integration, aims to drive innovation in drug development, precision medicine, and safety evaluation of cosmetics and chemicals.
Since 2012, Southeast University has been at the forefront of organ-on-chip research in China, fostering an active industry ecosystem and positioning Nanjing Jiangbei New Area as a strategic hub for global organ-on-chip development.
