Thirteen international students spent Oct 14 exploring Nanjing, Jiangsu province, discovering a city where riverside relaxation, cutting-edge technology and centuries of history come together.

Their journey began on Jiangxinzhou Island, where they strolled through E³ PARK Sports Park before stopping at ROCHO Lighthouse Cafe by the Yangtze River. With river breezes, open lawns and the aroma of coffee, the island offered a welcome chance to slow down and enjoy the outdoors.

"The atmosphere here is so relaxing. You can bring your children to play, enjoy a cup of coffee, read a book or take a walk. It's also a lovely place for couples," one student said.

After visiting the riverside, the group headed into the world of intelligent technology at the AI·Mofang Intelligent Agent Hub. The center showcases nearly 300 innovative products from more than 200 companies, including computing equipment, intelligent cockpits, specialized robots, smart glasses and passenger-carrying electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

"Seeing so many advanced yet practical technology products in one place opened my eyes. I could really feel the pace and strength of China's technological innovation," said a student from Liberia.

Technology was also featured prominently at AI·Jingjie Restaurant, where robotic chefs prepared dishes in a glass-walled kitchen. The entire process, from ordering to serving, was automated, giving the visitors a firsthand look at how intelligent systems are being integrated into everyday life.

In the afternoon, the students visited the Grand Bao'en Temple Ruins Museum, home to the largest and best-preserved complex of imperial Buddhist temple ruins in China. Their visit coincided with the recent opening of the special exhibition titled There is a Porcelain Tower in Nanjing.

More than 100 sets of artifacts and related exhibits fill a 1,000-square-meter exhibition space, bringing together historical objects, documents and research findings. The exhibition has received support from more than 30 museums and related institutions across 10 countries, offering visitors a comprehensive look at the history and legacy of the famed temple.

In just one day, the students experienced several sides of Nanjing — a city that offers room to unwind, a front-row seat to technological innovation and a rich cultural heritage waiting to be explored.
