Principal forum held in Queensland

The 11th Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals, organized by the Jiangsu Education Department, was held in Queensland, Australia, on Nov 2.

The forum, entitled "Sister School in Cooperation", featured 20 principals from Jiangsu province, China and Australia in discourse about education.

Officials from the Queensland Department of Education addressed the forum and welcomed the arrival of the Chinese guests. The Director-General of Queensland's education department reviewed his trip to China in 2014 and shared his international exchange experience.

Wang Zhiyong, on behalf of the Jiangsu principal delegation, spoke about provincial educational development. Tang Jiangpeng, one of the Chinese principals, delivered a speech about curriculum reform to improve students' academic performance, overall competence and personal qualities.

Ron Michael, of the Griffith English Language Institute, put forward a new idea at the forum, namely to help improve students' foreign language learning through social media platforms like Facebook and WeChat.

The Jiangsu principal delegation also visited Queensland University of Technology and its Confucius Institute, learning about the achievements in of the Institute in promoting Chinese language and culture.
