Changzhou Institute of Technology (herein referred to as CIT) is an ordinary full-time undergraduate institution of higher learning approved by Ministry of Education of China. It's located in Changzhou, a famous historical and cultural city which enjoys a developed economy as well as convenient transportation on the southern bank of Yangtze River. CIT has now become a practice-oriented institution of higher learning with distinctive characteristics, offering undergraduate programs in such fields as engineering, liberal arts, science, economics, management, education and art.

CIT takes up an area of more than 70 hectares. It has 13 schools offering 49 undergraduate programs to students from more than 20 provinces, provincial-level municipalities and autonomous regions in China and collaboratively cultivates postgraduate students with well-known domestic universities such as Hohai University, Jilin University, North University of China, East China Normal University, etc. There are nearly 15,000 full-time students and more than 700 full-time teachers (60% of whom owning senior academic title) in CIT.

CIT always sticks to the principle of serving local development and spares no effort to establish a talent cultivation system which is aimed at training high-quality practice-oriented talents who are competent enough to contribute to local economic and social development. CIT has been approved as Pilot University of Jiangsu for Cultivating Excellent Engineers and Pilot University of Jiangsu for Cultivating Service Outsourcing Talents.

CIT has formulated the concept of "enabling every student to be successful". It makes great efforts to improve the talent cultivation system, to explore the new mechanism and methods that can well integrate teaching with student management. CIT also attaches great importance to achieving students' overall development, training and improving students' professional skills as well as comprehensive qualities via various channels such as professional learning, recreational and sports activities, theme education, club activities as well as social practice etc., all of which offer students a stage that is helpful for their self-development and self-presentation. Up to date, CIT has turned out over 90,000 practice-oriented graduates for different social sectors. Its graduates have been enjoying great popularity for their high quality. The average signature rate and employment rate of fresh graduates have been up to 96% in recent five years. And the postgraduate admission rate has been on the rise year by year.

CIT has established long-term and friendly cooperation relationships with more than 20 overseas institutions of higher learning in various areas. Currently, CIT runs 3 Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Programs. More than 30 foreign experts are invited to teach and give lectures in CIT every year. Meanwhile, CIT enrolls international students from over 30 countries in Asia, Europe, America, etc., which contributes much to the multi-culture communication of the campus.
