Formerly known as Huazhong Health School that was founded in 1941, Yancheng Vocational Institute of Health Sciences is a full-time ordinary college, which was approved by Jiangsu Provincial Government to use its new name on March 18, 2005. It has trained around 40,000 students in health profession over the past 70 years.
Located in Yancheng city, Jiangsu province, the Institute has two campuses, covering an area of 694 mu (642,669 square meters). There are about 10,000 students and 318 full-time teachers, including 34 professors, 59 associate professors and 143 teachers with master's or higher degree.
It has 25 majors in seven colleges, such as Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Clinical Medicine, Medical Technology, Basic Medical, and Public Basics. Boasting four national and provincial training bases, the Institute has undertaken around 200 national, provincial and municipal research programs.
It has cooperated with colleges, universities and institutions in the United States, Canada, Germany and Japan. More than 40 students went to study or work in Australia and Japan. It also worked with St. Lawrence College of Canada to offer courses and founded the Chang Gung Health and Nursing College with Taiwan’s Chang Gung University of Science and Technology.
