Taizhou University is a full-time public ordinary undergraduate university with more than 6,000 full-time students. There are a total of 40 majors in 11 colleges and departments, including Humanities, Mathematics, Computer Science and Technology, Education Science, Foreign Languages, Economics and Management, Marine and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Music, Fine Arts, Medicine and Chemical Engineering, and Athletics.
The University has one provincial-level key construction discipline, one provincial brand construction discipline program, two majors with the support of the ministries of education and finance, three provincial characterized disciplines and two provincial discipline groups during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) period.
It has 469 full-time teachers, including 204 teachers with senior academic titles and 292 teachers with master or higher degree (57 with doctoral degree).
There are two doctoral supervisors and nine master’s tutors. In recent five years, the University has undertaken eight state-level scientific research programs, 25 provincial or higher-level research programs, with five research programs winning awards above provincial level. The teachers have published 90 academic publications, and 200 papers on core journals.
The students have various cultural activities. There is a provincial students’art troupe and over 60 student communities. In recent three years, the students have won the first prizes of national college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship contests and 50 plus national, provincial or ministerial awards. The average employment rate of Taizhou University reaches 98 percent.
The University pays much attention to international exchange and cooperation and it has established friendly relations with colleges and universities in Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Canada. It has joined hands with Canada’s Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology to train students in pre-school education majors since 2011.
