Located in the Science and Education Town in Changzhou, a city in the country’s important economic center Yangtze River Delta area, the Institute was founded in 1963 and is under the administration of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.
In 2008, it was approved as one of Jiangsu province's demonstration units for higher vocational education and passed a national inspection for higher vocational colleges with good performance in 2014.
Occupying 942 mu (628,000 square meters), the Institute has a floorage of 300,000 sq m, about 10,000 full-time students and over 600 staff members.
Its major disciplines are Material Forming and Control Technology, Mechanical Manufacturing Technology, Intelligent Equipment Technology, the Internet of Things and Manufacturing Informatization, Industry and Art Design, Business Administration, Economics and Trade, Vehicles and Agricultural Machinery Technology, and Electric Power Technology.
The Institute focuses on team building in improving its faculty’s teaching, practice, research and social services. It has one national-level teaching team and three excellent provincial teaching teams.
It has seven research teams, 95 groups for social training programs and 14 centers for scientific and technologic services. It has a total of 137 patents, including 11 patents for inventions.
It has organized training programs for more than 70,000 people with a fund of over 53 million yuan ($8.63 million) and was honored as a demonstration base for high-skilled professional cultivation of Changzhou.
