The students tried their hands at double-sided embroidery, or two-faced embroidery, a technique in which stitching takes place on both sides of a single transparent silk fabric, so that the design is visible on both sides.
Using a piece of silk mounted on a wooden fan frame as the screen, the students earnestly learned the master’s skills, and tried their utmost to hide all the loose threads and knots.
“When stitching, one should keep both images in his or her mind, which requires intense concentration and inner peace,” the master explained.
