Just a few years ago, the school “survived” the reform initiated by the local education department to close several primary and middle schools at village level or below due to their remote location.

Officials from the local education department showed great confidence in the Fandun school. “The door of knowledge will always be open as long as there’s one student,” officials said.

Let’s hope that remains true and the school can continue to witness generation after generation of children growing up in their hometown.
