East China’s Jiangsu province has initiated a series of activities to celebrate the annual National Mandarin Promotional Week, starting from Sept 11 to 17 this year.
To encourage the general public’s proper and correct use of Chinese characters, language, and consciously carrying forward Chinese culture, the Jiangsu provincial language affairs commission will conduct a thorough survey on the popularization of mandarin in Jiangsu’s rural and less-developed areas, and open up recital competitions demonstrating the language abilities of middle and primary school teachers.
People with hearing and speaking problems can also benefit from the activities through engagement and free access to various non-commercial advertisements and lectures via the internet or across the province.
