A group of 223 Australian students and teachers, who embarked on a study tour to Jiangsu province, East China, received warm welcome from local officials on Sept 21.

Coming from 17 primary and middle schools in the Australian states of Auckland and Queensland, the group would enrich their stay by visiting local schools, learning to speak Chinese, and practicing various distinctive traditions.

Wang Chengbin, deputy director-general of the Jiangsu provincial Department of Education, welcomed the delegation. He exemplified the close ties between China and Australia, their promising development possibilities on trade and investment, and he also invited the students to delve into the disparities and features rooted in the two countries' societies, cultures and traditions.

The Australian group expressed gratitude for the warm reception and for their Jiangsu counterpart offering such a precious and inspiring opportunity. They looked forward to gaining more insights into the two countries' educational systems and joining hands for mutual improvement.

Jiangsu has long maintained sound relations with Queensland and Auckland. The study tour is the second time for such a large group of students and teachers from the two states visiting Jiangsu.
