US, China university basketball players compete in Suzhou

The China-US Collegiate Basketball Invitational tipped off at the Cultural and Sports Center in Suzhou New District, Jiangsu province on Nov 6, marking the beginning of "two competitions and two summits" between university students from the two countries.
At the invitational, 14 players from Yale University played against the Chinese team of eight Peking University players and six Soochow University players.
The Chinese team held a one point lead in the first half, but came up short by nine points to its American rival during the second half.
The other activities are the tip off of the 21st Chinese University Basketball Association (CUBA) league, Sino-US University Sports Education Summit, and China School Sports Summit, which will last until Nov 9.
The Sino-US University Sports Education Summit is scheduled to take place on Nov 9, which is expected to attract nearly 300 participants, including 12 members of the Pac-12 Conference, a collegiate athletic conference that operates in the Western United States, and experts from Chinese universities.
Basketball has always been the focus of Suzhou New District in developing its sports industry for a long time and both the Suzhou New District Basketball League and the Science and Technology Town League are the district's self-owned events.
Hosting such high-quality events as China Basketball Association league and China-US Collegiate Basketball Invitational will further advance the development of the district's related industries.
