Block printing, paper-cutting and embroidery, a variety of intangible cultural heritages were reinvigorated at Yangzhou University, Jiangsu province, as an activity promoting time-honored cultural legacies got underway on Nov 21.
"Young people are the new blood that will carry forward traditional culture," said Yang Yong, deputy director of the local culture, radio and TV, press and publication bureau.
"The activity invited college students to learn about local intangible cultural heritage and gain hands-on experience," Yang added.
Twenty-three cultural programs were presented during the activity; student clubs featuring guqin (Chinese zither) and lacquer painting also allowed participants to show off their skills.
Yangzhou University is an active and creative hub for traditional culture enthusiasts. It was listed as an intangible cultural heritage study and practice base in 2014, and various cultural activities are carried out vigorously on the campus.
