Vocational schools in East China's Jiangsu province launched their 2019 early admission programs on April 13. Nanjing Institute of Railway Technology, a school that thrives on college-enterprise cooperation, has so far proven to be the most popular among students.
Among the 2,483 students who have currently secured a seat in the final round of the school's early admission tests, 1,620 applicants will get an offer, with 1,150 of them studying metro-related majors.
Cao Guohong, vice president of the school, said metro groups from the cities of Nanjing, Suzhou and Nantong have been engaged in the enrollment process.
"There is a surging demand for professionals, and what we should do is to work out the best admission plans so that we can train our students in a more competent and targeted way," Cao said.
The students will sign a tripartite agreement with the school and the enterprise, with some of them even able to enjoy employment benefits after their admittance.
For example, students enrolled in the school's joint training program with Nanjing Metro Group can take free metro rides and will get their uniforms and member cards; they also get an allowance during their internships. Suzhou Metro Group is offering reasonable payments to fresh graduates, with those working in the maintenance field gaining up to 80,000 yuan ($11,920) a year and subway drivers earning 90,000 yuan a year.
