A group of 97 enterprises provided over 1,500 overseas posts for international graduates at a recruitment campaign in Jiangsu province on May 22, attracting some 3,000 job seekers.
Since its launch last year, the event has been set up to answer the ever-increasing labor demand of companies such as Huawei and CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co as they increase their global presence.
These "going out" businesses create a strong demand for foreign students due to their basic knowledge of China's national conditions and culture and their ability to adapt to a Chinese working environment. In addition, they are considered to have advantages over other applicants in helping to expand overseas markets.
One Zambian graduate, who studies computer science at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, sent his resume to Alibaba during the fair, hoping to participate in the Chinese tech giant's projects in Africa.
"The technology in our country is relatively backward, making it difficult for me find a job there. I think I can fit well into the overseas businesses of Chinese companies because I'm fluent in Chinese, professional and more blended into Chinese culture," the young man said.
The Cambodia Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, an economic and trade cooperation zone initiated by the Jiangsu-based garment giant Hodo under the guidance of the Belt and Road Initiative, attended the event for the second time, bringing along nearly 200 jobs related to administration management and marketing.
"Cambodian students who have studied in China are more suited to our jobs, due to their professional skills and managerial ideas," said Yu Peihong, the human resources manager at Hodo.

On the same day, the Jiangsu provincial departments of education and commerce launched a renewed version of the "talent map", an information platform enabling schools to cultivate international students and allowing companies to seek talents. Previously it featured only internal access but now international students can also log into the system. An official WeChat account was also created this year for easy access to its various services.
Via the "map", registered enterprises can check the countries, majors and academic achievements of foreign students and locate potential employees, explains Shi Yunyu, the deputy head of the division for international cooperation and exchange at Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.
The "talent map" can also lend a helping hand to overseas students for their studies and jobs. Statistics show that Jiangsu embraced some 459,000 foreign students from 205 countries and regions last year.
During the event, 10 universities, including Nanjing University, Hohai University and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics signed one-on-one cooperative agreements with Jiangsu enterprises such as China Jiangsu International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group, Focus Technology Co and Jiangsu Delong Nickel Industry Co.
