The construction on the Suzhou campus of Nanjing University (NJU) will begin soon, local media reported recently.
The campus, headquartered in Suzhou, will be directly managed by NJU and is the first campus that the university has established outside of Nanjing.
The campus, which will begin admitting students in September 2021, will include 15,000 undergraduates, 3,500 postgraduates and 1,500 overseas students.
The school is nicknamed "the second NJU" and will be developed according to the principles of professional cultivation, scientific innovation, international exchange, and industrial progress.
Sitting next to the picturesque Taihu Lake, the school will also enjoy convenient access to nearby cutting-edge research centers and enterprises, such as the Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Suzhou Industrial Technology Research Institute of Zhejiang University, and Aliyun, the cloud computing subsidiary of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group. An integration of working, living and recreational facilities are also under construction.
