Students from the United States learn embroidery skills at a specialized training school in Suzhou, in Jiangsu province, on July 19. The school, named after local master Lu Fuying, welcomed the group of 25 US students studying at the School of Chinese Language and Literature at Soochow University that day. The youngsters took advantage of their holiday time to immerse themselves in traditional Chinese handicrafts. This included trying their hand at stitching and taking in and appreciating other elaborate work. Soochow University enjoys a sound relationship with the training school, as groups of foreign students have made their visits to the art center and learned Chinese craftsmanship there in recent years.
