There is a saying, “Even go to China to gain knowledge”. I always had thirst for knowledge. I never wanted to be one of those students who always studies. I don’t like study. But I like to learn. Learning is different from studying. Maybe we all study our lessons. But we never find out how much we learn. I obviously have a reason to go abroad for study. Confining yourself in a place forever will never let you learn the world. I wanted to learn the world. Books don’t satisfy our thirst all the time. Sometimes we need to see them with our own eyes. When I was in grade 1 nursery school, in my English text book, there was a chapter named “The Great Wall of China” along with some pictures of it. To be honest, both pictures and the story behind it amazed me. As the years passed by, I learned many things about China in our subject ‘History’. After all of these, I decided, someday I have to go to China and see her wonders. And I finally did it. And not just to travel only. I came here to learn as much as possible from here as a student.
I never intended to learn other languages apart from English. Just like this, I never intended to learn Chinese so well. But when I started to learn Chinese language, I found it so interesting. It’s totally different from what we usually learn. After few classes, I began to learn it with heart. I am ahead of my class. I practice Chinese whenever I get time. I practice writing Chinese anywhere I can. My Chinese is not good yet. Obviously it takes time to achieve something great. But I’m working hard and soul to achieve this great quality. Sometimes with my little Chinese speaking in real life with native people, I feel so good. I want to learn Chinese as fast as possible because I want to get along with Chinese people. I want to sit down and talk with old people. I want to hear them saying how China was before, how they married their lovers. I want to hear them saying about the old traditions of China. I want to learn from the people who embraced it from the very beginning. Once I took part in an activity where foreigners had to write Chinese calligraphy. Before that my class teacher Mr. Zou taught me calligraphy. I learned it quickly. In that activity, some of the Chinese students said I was very good, I have a gift of this. Actually I also never knew that I could be so good at it. The reason behind I’m so good at this is because I took Chinese language by heart and l am proud of it.
My life in China is very easygoing. I never had to face any problem. Whenever I go to any place, I get some stares though. I take it normally. They smile at me, I smile back. It’s a gesture or a greeting per se. it feels nice. People in China are very generous and I mean it. They are the role model of the world. I have never seen a hard working nation before. They take their works very seriously. As a proof, you can see them now where they are. People here are very humble. I always got nice response from them. Every time I order food from online, the delivery man and I always share a small greeting. Since we both have some language barriers, we couldn’t get to know each other. He is always very nice to me. That’s just one example. If I had some more chances then I would have mention more people who were so generous. I always felt myself at home just because of these happiest people.
I study software engineering. My goal is to be a software engineer. Even though I’m thousand miles away from my family, I never felt homesick because I’m living with another family. I have my classmates who are like my brothers and sisters. I have my teachers who are like my parents. These people never let me down for any reason. My studying in here is quite well now. Coming to abroad, I got to see how tough can be the world. But still it showed me how to win it even if it is so difficult. I got to see many talented guys from different countries. I got to see the talents China as well. I could never see them if I didn’t come here. I got to learn so many things from these people. Maybe studying abroad let us to get the opportunities to see these incredible talents and learn from them. China is a booming country in both technology and business. Since I’m related to technology, I have a great opportunity to learn the highest possible knowledge from here. My teachers are the only persons who can show me the right way to succeed and they are doing their duty perfectly.
My life in Yangzhou is the most precious one. I am very lucky to study in Yangzhou University and embrace the beauty of both the university and the city herself. One of the most calm, quiet and beautiful city I have ever seen. She is arranged well. I have gone for mid night walks on the street so many times. I explored the city at night most of the times. Because it’s more quiet and there is no car and people on the road. So I get to walk around the city by myself. I listen carefully to the gentle breeze at night when I walk on the street. It’s like they are chatting with me. I am in love with this city so much. Whenever I had gone to other cities to travel, I missed Yangzhou so much that I came back within 3 days. Sometimes I feel proud because I know about this city more than a Chinese student in our school. The reason I know more about this city is because I have learned so many things about Yangzhou by heart. That is called the thirst of learning.
