My name is Mulunesh. I am foreign student from Ethiopia. I am studying at Nanjing vocational college of information technology department of communication technology. I have arrived Nanjing, Jiangsu since 11/10/2018GC. I have already spent a year in Jiangsu. It is my second entry to china.

Before I came to china I heard a lot of things about china. But hearing and seeing is not the same. I had a dream to come to china and see the technology development in China, the hard working of Chinese peoples’ and their culture.

During my first entry to Beijing I was very amazed with what I have seen. The street was busy with car and peoples, the building was very tall and beautiful, everybody uses mobile phone for everything and at everywhere. That feeling still left deep inside me. I have gone to see Forbidden City and culture village. I saw that Chine has very beautiful culture; beautiful cultural wearing and they respect their culture. They are also developing their culture by combining with modern technology.  I also went to Shenzhen Huawei training center. Over there I have seen advanced technology and the teacher gave us introduction to telecommunication service for one week. In the laboratory I practiced how to configure 4G base station data configuration and it is exactly what I want to learn and do. It is my favorite field of study. I have also learnt Chinese language and calligraphy at Beijing language and culture University (BLCU) and I got certificate of honor. At that time I was very anxious in the class because before I came to china I never heard Chinese language and never saw Chinese character I think as it is impossible to learn this language.

I started to dream to find scholarship in china. Then after I finished my trip to Beijing and Shenzhen and go back to my country I start searching for scholarship chance in china in order to advance my study and improve my skill. Then I got this chance and again came to Jiangsu.

On the first day we arrived in shanghai two Chinese teacher wait us in shanghai air port and gave us welcome. Then we came together to our school. After arrival and get off the bus I saw the boldly written welcome hanged on the wall of building that says” warmly welcome to Ethiopian foreign students” I feel happy and quickly knew as it is our building, then we went to our dormitory. Chinese student came and help us made the bed, after made the bade at the very first time they take us to china Unicom workshop in our school to provide us with SIM card because it is very important in order to contact any one and to get any service. Chinese student also gave us new Chinese name. By the way my Chinese name is (qiaoxin).

By that time (the first time I come to china) I hadn’t Alipay, wechat, taobao and so on. I can’t speak Chinese rather than a few words that I have learnt at Beijing for two weeks, I didn’t know how to use metro system, I can’t gone anywhere even if supermarket. To do anything or to gone anywhere we need the help of Chinese friends or teachers.

I slowly became familiar with environment and Chinese people. Now I can use Alipay, Wechat, Taobao, Train, Bus and etc. It is very convenient to use. I have visited and gone climbing mountain like Zhongshan Mountain more and more knew the beauty of Nanjing.     

In the past two Semesters I have studied a lot of Chinese language skills course and one course related to my major study (However it is difficult, but I learnt it in Chinese). I will stay in my college for the next two years of study. In the first two months the class was very funny, because, during the class the teacher asked us to say some words or statements after him or her, to answer question or to fulfill some statements.  Then the students say another word or statement with different meaning. So it was very funny.

Now I disprove my way of think and realize that if I do my best I can be able to communicate, to read, to speak and to write Chinese language. Now I have passed HSK 4 exam, I will take HSK 5 and HSK 6. I hope I can understand Chinese language much better, be familiar with Chinese culture, people and also be able to pass my exam with great success. At the end of my study I wish to be able to communicate in Chinese up to 99%. This will have great advantage for the current mutual relationship and bilateral cooperation between china and Ethiopia.

During my stay in Jiangsu I also want to realize my dream of being familiar with new born technology , be able to use  it ,and also take part in role playing as technology student to solve community problem. Generally speaking, I like Chinese and their ethics.
