Jiangsu University of Science and Technology
Updated:2019-10-22
My biggest breakthrough in life came in the summer of 2016 while I stepped my first ever footstep in the Mainland China. I got a scholarship in one of the prestigious universities in Jiangsu province, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology. I was very excited about it because from my Childhood, I had a dream to pursue higher degree in a foreign county. Now while the turn is to choose a country what could be the better choice than China according to my perspective?
China has become world’s leading educational destination for higher studies due to its quality of education and research as well as a soft touch of its classical language and culture.
Jiangsu is one of China's eastern provinces in the Yangtze Delta. The number of university students in Jiangsu encompasses approximately 10% of the total university students in all of China, and 2.7% of the students in the entire world. So, obviously it is fulfilling the dreams of students with success, that’s why it hauls that position and marked in peoples mind. That’s why I decided to come to Jiangsu.
While I came to China most dreams reside on education. I came here with a vision of serious study, learning interesting things, more practical knowledge, exploring my ability etc. I am very fascinated with the multi-nationality environment here. Jiangsu is a great place for education. Some people also say Jiangsu is the province of education and development. There are numerous universities in this province. I have visited many universities of this province, and each university has its own different characteristics with great education quality. This kind of place and environment I had dreamed of. We frequently visit different places such as factory, park, ancient places, and museum as a study tour. This is where my dream came true. Visiting and experiencing different places along with studies.
When people come to China at the first time, specially the students at first they encounter with the language issue. Language is the medium how we communicate to each other. Many students find that Chinese is very thought language. One part is yes but most of the students give up learning the language after several attempts. But trust me it’s not that much difficult if you can guess the pattern. Chinese language has an art and yes, their characters are also like an art. Some characters represent its own characteristics. And if you review them regularly by providing a few moments on it you will be master soon on the language. Once you grasp the language you will remember it forever. Like other language it has not that much constrain in grammar, tense or making sentences. Each character represents each word, so if you can grasp the vocabularies it’s very easy to make sentences and communicate with others. Learning Chinese plays an important impact in the daily life in China as well as in future career. Learning Chinese helps me a lot to make local new friends and playing around conveniently. It can help in networking and confidence as well. It will help you everywhere not only in China, all around the world.
China is mostly known for its own individual unique culture. Chinese culture is one of the world's oldest cultures, tracing back to thousands of years ago. Important components of Chinese culture include ceramics, architecture, music, literature, martial arts, cuisine, visual arts, philosophy and religion. Life in China is very discipline. China taught me how to make life in discipline. When I visit my country in vacation time I can distinguish myself from the other people in the terms of discipline, that time I realizes that if I have never been in China I couldn’t be as discipline as now. As I am member of student union from the beginning I was very fortunate to attend on different cultural events. I noticed their community, their unity at every age especially among the old people. I observed how beautiful life can be even if you are at you old ages. They also treat us as a sweetheart one. They are always curious about us, they asks about our family our country and many more things. I think in the development of modern civilized China, Chinese culture played an important role which is very precious. When you will be in China you can see the touch of Chinese culture in very sphere of China. Chinese culture transformed me into a decent ideology in my life.

Now when the turn is for cuisine what could be better than the Chinese cuisine with tradition, popularity and taste. In country when people think about a giant and gravity party or meal Chinese restaurant always takes the first choice. There are numerous of Chinese restaurant in our country, however when I put my first footstep in China the taste that I felt in my country it was different than in real China. Sooner I became a fan of Chinese cuisine specially the Jiangsu cuisine. During my 3 years of staying in China I have travelled several provinces, I have tasted different cuisines but of course cuisine of Jiangsu comes first in my choice. Jiangsu cuisine, which is often abbreviated to Su cuisine, originates in the Jiangsu province of China, and it comprises the styles of Yangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, and Zhenjiang dishes. Zhenjiang city is well known for its Miantiao (Noodles) in all over the China.
Jiangsu is a transportation hub in East China. The province has built up a remarkably complete modern transport system. In 2018, the throughput of harbors in Jiangsu over designated size amount to 23.3 trillion tons. The world-class infrastructure includes 4,710 kilometers of express highways and 3126 kilometers of railway lines in Jiangsu Province. Now it takes only 3 hours and 45 minutes to cover 1032 kilometers of distance from Nanjing to Beijing. Jiangsu, with a great gathering of talented people, is thriving and prosperous in science, technology, education, and cultural heritages. The province has 142 institutions of higher education, with the student enrollment amounting to 2 million. In 2018, Jiangsu's regional innovation capacity remained at a leading position national-wide. 63% of the economic growth was attributed to progresses made in science and technology. 90% of large/medium industrial enterprises and above-designate-size hi-tech companies have research and development institutes. 145 of these R&D institutes have national-level accreditation, putting Jiangsu at a leading position in China.
Jiangsu Province is one of the most economically developed regions in China. In 2018, the GDP of the province reached RMB 9.26 trillion (USD 1.31 trillion), ranking the second place in China, taking up 10.3 % of China’s total. GDP per capita was USD 16,087, ranking the first place among all provinces in China. The ratio of different industries in Jiangsu's GDP is: primary industry 4.5%, second industry 44.5%, and third industry 51.0%
Jiangsu is leading the development or GDP of China. As I have experience to visit other countries too so I can say if we consider the overall development of a province with the area, overall city development not only the capital city development, Jiangsu ranks number 1. Because the development of Jiangsu is overall one, not for a certain city or place or area like the other provinces.
How can I conclude without saying something about the people of Jiangsu? I always found people of China as well as Jiangsu are always broad minded. I want to share a story. When I was in my first year, one day I was traveling freely by a city bus while the bus about on the last stoppage an old Chinese man get in the bus with his little niece named Sofia.. He came to my seat and we talked a few while and eventually we made friendship. He was a retired agricultural officer. One day he invited me to show his farm, it’s a bit in the village side. He and his friend own the farm. It was my first ever visit to a remote area in China. I also visited the local old temple. We also had a lunch together in a local famous restaurant. Everything was great including the dishes. There were also miracle places where we can taste 7 different types of water. There were 7 wells and each one was situated very nearly. People say it’s a natural ancient holy thing. At the time of returning he also gift me 4 different box of rice which is produced by their farm. It is one of my forever memorable days of my life. He was so friendly with me that I never felt we just become friend. This is how Chinese people treat. They are the most innocent and well behaved people around the world.
Overall I can say I am satisfied the time that I spend here, my dreams have come true with the language, culture, cuisine, education, people and as well as development of my province Jiangsu province and I want to give endless thumps-up.
If someone asks me about Jiangsu, I will reply them in one sentence: I love Jiangsu; there is nothing better than Jiangsu.
