Zhongshan Ling & Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum,  Nanjing, Oct 9th  2018

The city Nanjing in Jiangsu Province is a very beautiful, dynamic city situated on the banks of the Yangtze River. This is one of China’s more pleasant and prosperous cities in terms of education, culture and history, research, politics, economy, transport networks, and tourism with most beautiful landscapes, lakes, forested parks, and rivers.  While in Sudan, I was privileged to listen and learn about life in China.

Fortunately for me, I was encouraged to come to China through my brother's (who was a Ph.D. scholar at Yangzhou University) influence as well as my family back home due to their passion for education and seeing a member of the family soaring academically. My family always reminded me of what our Prophet Muhammad said: “Seek knowledge even as far as China."

Getting the acceptance letter in September 2012 to enroll in Southeast University, which is one of the national key universities and top 10 universities in scientific and medical research, and being a part of the Chinese educational system was a dream come through. In my first week in China, I was curious and struggled to acclimate in this new environment, most especially with nutrient (Chinese cuisine) satisfaction.

Personally, I was eager about learning Chinese, and it is the reason for being in China. However, I realized that learning a language is a journey, not a destination, yet it is a tool to understand more about Chinese culture and fit in the school environment. I started my class and fully enjoyed, quickly pick up tones, since the language is based on voices. My speech improved remarkably, and I was the best among my classmates. Learning Chinese help me to provide aids to my country mates in various areas such as market, hospital and teach them how to fit in the schools. I always appreciate my Chinese teachers for their encouragement and support to learn Chinese. I am telling  my friends in every single moment when I study Chinese; I fall in love with it over again; I get the same reaction: “Are you serious?”

Studying abroad in China changed the course of my life forever, I made lifelong friends, discovered my true desires and what I can achieve, I saw so much of an incredible region, and have a desire to travel and meet with many people and learn about a great Chinese culture.

Being in a community where everyone comes from a different country inevitably influences you. I have had gained so many experiences; sometimes, it is fun to be around and being a part of this community.

As international students face a more extensive set of expectations not only to learn and create but to familiarize it and put it to use straight away. Outside class, learning takes the form of clubs, activities, and competitions for fun. I enjoy volunteering activities, the diversity on SEU with an overseas student is over a tremendous diverse opportunity to be a part of this family, and at the overall, I always love Jiangsu Province, because it has become my second home now. I have been involved in many volunteers, and assistant activities between China and Sudan in terms of Education through the signing of many collaboration works between many universities in Jiangsu province and Sudan, including Southeast University, Nanjing Agriculture University, and Nanjing Forest University. I was appointed ambassador by Southeast University for helping Overseas Students.

I learned that the country is under a one-time zone, the fact that 1.4 Billion People, 9.6sq Km, unique region, it represents the unity of the people. In Jiangsu province, I have visited many attractive places such as Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, Xuanwu Lake, Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Purple Mountain, Confucius Temple (Fuzimiao), Nanjing City Wall, Presidential Palace, and  Nanjing Massacre.

It is my pleasure visiting the Great Wall in Beijing on September 15, 2019. The Great Wall is one of the eight wonders of the world that speaks for itself, and it is considered as one of the most fantastic architecture in the world as part of human civilization.

My experience in Jiangsu, Yangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing, China CDC, and Wuhan gave me an opportunity to meet new people, scientists, classmate and figure out what their lives were like on a day-to-day basis.

The most important people besides the friends in my life are my family because without them I would not be able to live through life. This reminded me of what we learn in Chinese culture “在家靠父母,出外靠朋友”。

Great Wall of China, Beijing Sep 15th 2019

I offered my faithfulness and humblest salutations to the Holy Prophet Muhammed (SAW), who enlightened the whole world with his great personality and guided his "ummah” to seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave. However, the value of time spending with my friends and professors rather than my family; it goes to the end, is filled with emotion. Hereafter a hardworking and meaningful period, the bits and pieces of experience will be unforgettable.

I would like to thank SEU, Nanjing community, Nanjing Visa Center, security staff, member of the office of overseas students, my advisor Professor Pu Yue-Pu, Prof Pingmin Wei, Prof Yin Lihong, and members of Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control Prevention, for making it possible for me to explore my career in China. I would recommend Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, to every international student who wishes to study in China and specially Nanjing city, which is situated in the Yangtze River Delta region. The universities in Jiangsu continues to provide talent and excellent scholars with several opportunities, which I found especially supportive and encouraging. The careers service, in particular, helps overseas to enhance a better environment for their career path guidance. Finally, I thank a God, acknowledge my family members and the citizen of the People’s Republic of China for supporting and funding my study.
